Glastonbury Festival

It’s that time of year again!

Yes, its time for the biggest music festival in the world – Glastonbury.

A few  years back I was lucky enough to experience one of the most iconic musical events in the world – Glastonbury.  The achievement of obtaining tickets alone was a thrill, as over 2 million people attempt every year.

Glastonbury Music festival is set over three days (five if you’re camping), has a maximum capacity of over 135,000 people, and over 700 musical acts.

Those 700 musical acts range from all genres and vary dramatically in stature, from the likes of the Rolling Stones, Coldplay and Adele to singular unknown folk artists, comedians and dance troops. It’s an eclectic mix of spirituality, education, gourmet food and counterculture. Genre wise, you can be more than satisfied with its line up of rock, dance, blues, hip-hop, rap, metal and pop music.

Aside from the incredible musical experience, it also brings people together in a way I have never witnessed at a festival before. Positivism, friendliness, understanding, enjoyment and passion are more than frequent. People are overjoyed to be there, to experience the wonder and thrill of their surroundings. There is no talk of fear and violence, no differences, it  actually felt to me like we were all unified in a single cause – enjoyment.

It reminded us of Travelling.

The world we live in has always been a dangerous place, and we as humans make it more dangerous on a daily basis. Petty differences and contrasting ideologies are dividing us as a species…

If you want to be reminded of the brighter side of humanity and also experience a festival like no other… Glastonbury is for you.

Our experience was a Wandering Memory to cherish.
