Dive right in!

My father wanted me to learn scuba diving with him when I was younger, however at the time I wasn’t interested. I never was a fan of the water and I have never been able to do is open my eyes underwater which we thought maybe the reason. I was a late bloomer regarding swimming, but am now perfectly happy in the water.

My sister took the opportunity and they learnt together – this is something that never bothered me, until I took a year out to travel. During the trip I snorkelled the Great Barrier Reef, Thai and Fijian beaches and always just found it slightly lacking especially the Great Barrier Reef!

Upon returning to the UK I wasn’t going to miss out yet again, so I learnt in the UK in the middle of November. It was cold damp and very un-enjoyable, however I passed with flying colours and haven’t looked back since.

It is one of the best things I have ever decided to do, and thus far have dived in Mozambique, Seychelles, Australia, French Polynesia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Honduras and Greece registering over 40 dives.

These are just a few of the photos I cherish as the glimpses into an activity that shouldn’t be overlooked by any traveler. It opens up an insight into a whole world of memories that will stay with you forever.

      1. January has been weird, to say the least. One day the temps are in the twenties and the next week they are in the 70’s. But, that is how it has always been here in the Southern USA. Looking toward summer with a smile on my face. Stay safe my friend.

  3. Beautiful photos. I was a late bloomer like you David. In fact I only learned to swim properly after I started going out with Doug, as he was heavily into scuba diving. Although I haven’t taken it up I love to snorkel. It’s like another world down there. So peaceful.

      1. Tell her it’s never too late. Trust m, I nearly drowned as a kid and it really scarred me. But after I met Doug I just thought, if I’m going to stay with this guy I have to learn to swim! I was 23. Now I love it.

      2. Ah yes the goal. I still have a desire to dive with a whale shark that would be j credible but I have done great whites and a host of other sharks it’s incredible and so awe inspiring. Where have you dived thus far?

      3. I have dove in St. Thomas, Tortola, and here in the U.S.. Where did you dive with Great Whites? I have been considering a cage dive in San Francisco for the Whites…then, after educating myself more on those sharks, dive without a cage- Bucket List!!

      5. Wow! You’ve been everywhere. That’s awesome! Eventually, I would like my log book to look similar, lol. I’m considering a trip to Cozumel during Whale Shark season, which is coming up in a couple months I think in that area. I’ll check out your link for sure.

      6. Sooty got the delay in response our little one is taking up most of my free time. Yes whale and whale shark are very high on our list of desired dives.dived a wreck in santorini and volcanic tubes which was absolutely sensational.
